We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Geo Textiles (Jute Geotextiles) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has introduced the "Geo Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2022," scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2024. This amendment aims to enhance and fortify the current quality control framework for geo textiles, thereby ensuring elevated standards within the industry.

This order applies specifically to goods or articles categorized as Jute Geotextiles, with the exception of those intended for export.

To comply with established standards, the specified goods or articles must meet Indian Standard IS 14715 (Part 2): 2016 (Jute Geotextiles Part 2 Control of Bank Erosion in Rivers and Waterways - Specification) and display the Standard Mark. Manufacturers must secure a license from the Bureau according to Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau serves as both the certifying and enforcing body for the specified goods or articles, specifically Jute Geotextiles. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in penalties as per the provisions outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).

This regulatory initiative aims to maintain the quality and standards of Geo Textiles, particularly focusing on Jute Geotextiles, to enhance safety and reliability across the industry.
