OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has announced the "Geo Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2022," set to take effect from January 1, 2024. This amendment aims to bolster the current quality control framework for geo textiles, aiming for improved industry standards.

This order pertains specifically to products categorized as Laminated High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Woven Geomembrane for Waterproof Lining, with the exception of those intended for export.

To maintain conformity with recognized benchmarks, the designated goods must meet Indian Standard IS 15351:2015 (Geotextiles - Laminated High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Woven Geomembrane for Waterproof Lining - Specification) and display the Standard Mark. Manufacturers must secure a license from the Bureau under Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau serves as the certifying and regulatory body for the specified products, specifically Laminated High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Woven Geomembrane for Waterproof Lining. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in penalties as stipulated in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
