Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Aluminium alloy forging stock and forgings (Alloy 24345) for aerospace applications) (Quality Control) Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products Amendment Order, 2024, set to take effect on April 1, 2025.
Previously, the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Order of 2023 granted exemptions to small and micro enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. These exemptions have now been extended until December 26, 2024, for small enterprises and until March 26, 2025, for micro enterprises.
According to the updated order, all products associated with Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products must comply with Indian Standard IS 7902:2001, particularly focusing on "Aluminium alloy forging stock and forgings (Alloy 24345) for aerospace applications." These products must display the Standard Mark and obtain a Bureau of Indian Standards license under Scheme-1 as detailed in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It is important to note that this Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically for export purposes.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products specified in this Order.
Any person found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
