Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Aluminium and aluminium alloy foil for pharmaceutical packaging) (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an amendment to the quality control order titled the "2024 Amendment for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control)."
This amendment order is set to take effect on September 26, 2024.
Under the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Order of 2023, specific exemptions were granted to small and micro enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. These exemptions have now been extended until December 26, 2024, for small enterprises and until March 26, 2025, for micro enterprises.
According to the revised order, all items associated with Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products must conform to Indian Standard 16011:2012, particularly concerning "Aluminium and aluminium alloy foil for pharmaceutical packaging." These products are required to display the Standard Mark and obtain a Bureau of Indian Standards license under Scheme-1 as specified in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It is important to highlight that this Order excludes goods or articles manufactured domestically intended for export purposes.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products as specified in this Order.
Any person found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
