Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Maleic Anhydride (Quality Control) Order, 2020.

BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Maleic Anhydride

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has released an Second Amendment Order for quality control in 2024.

The effective date of this amendment is October 24, 2024.

The order pertains to products or items associated with Maleic Anhydride, with the exception of those designated for export.

It requires Maleic Anhydride products to comply with the Indian Standard IS 5149:2020 and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards Regulations for Conformity Assessment in 2018

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the designated authority responsible for certification and enforcement of Maleic Anhydride products.

Any person found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
