BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a 2024 Amendment Order concerning the quality control of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (EVA).

This amendment revises the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (Quality Control) Order of 2021 and is set to come into effect from October 3, 2024.

This order applies exclusively to EVA Copolymers, requiring compliance with Indian Standard IS 13601:1993 and displaying the Standard Mark under a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards Regulations on Conformity Assessment in 2018

Importantly, this order excludes products or items intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for EVA Copolymers.

Any person found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties under the applicable legislation.
