The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the Automotive Valves, Valve Accessories & Caps (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This order covers products in these categories, which must meet the requirements of Indian Standard IS 9081:2024 — “Automotive Vehicles — Valves and Valve Accessories for Pneumatic Tyres.” All applicable products must display the BIS Standard Mark, granted under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in line with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

• General manufacturers (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): Must comply within 6 months from the date of publication.

• Small Enterprises: Required to comply within 9 months.

• Micro Enterprises: Compliance must be ensured within 12 months.

This order does not apply to products made exclusively for export. The BIS will act as the authority for certification and enforcement, and failure to comply may result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
