OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the "Textiles—Polypropylene (PP) Woven, Laminated, Block Bottom Valve Sacks for 50 kg Cement (Quality Control) Order, 2023" under the Quality Control Amendment Order 2024. This new regulation aims to standardize the quality and specifications of PP woven sacks used for cement packaging.
It will take effect starting September 6, 2024.
The order pertains specifically to "Textiles—Polypropylene (PP) Woven, Laminated, Block Bottom Valve Sacks for Packaging 50 kg Cement," as outlined in the attached Schedule. Note that this regulation does not apply to goods or articles meant for export.
Goods classified under "Textiles—Polypropylene (PP) Woven, Laminated, Block Bottom Valve Sacks for 50 kg Cement," as detailed in the Schedule, must comply with Indian Standard IS 16709:2017. This standard specifies the requirements for PP woven, laminated, block bottom valve sacks used for cement packaging. Additionally, these products must display the Standard Mark, which is obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Scheme-I of Schedule-II, according to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for "Textiles—Polypropylene (PP) Woven, Laminated, Block Bottom Valve Sacks for Packaging 50 kg Cement," as outlined in the Schedule.
