OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, titled "Textiles—High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers (Quality Control) Order, 2023." This amendment updates quality control regulations for HDPE and PP woven sacks used in fertilizer packaging.

The (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 will come into effect on September 6, 2024.

The (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 applies to Textiles—High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks used for packaging fertilizers, as detailed in the attached Schedule. Note that this order excludes goods intended for export.

Goods falling under the category of Textiles—High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers, as specified in the Schedule, must comply with Indian Standard IS 9755:2021. This standard covers specifications for these woven sacks. To meet the requirements, these goods must display the Standard Mark and obtain it through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for Textiles—High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) / Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks used for packaging fertilizers, as outlined in the Schedule.
