The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has released a draft Quality Control Order titled the H Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2024. Here are the main provisions of this Order:

Title and Effective Date: The order is officially known as the H Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2024. It will take effect 180 days following its publication in the Official Gazette.

Scope and Applicability: This Order covers all H Acid goods and articles, except those designated for export.

Standards and Certification:

• H Acid goods and articles must meet the Indian Standard IS 8637:2020.

• These goods must display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in line with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Certifying and Enforcing Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for H Acid goods and articles.

Implementation Dates:

General Enterprises (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): January 1, 2025

Small Enterprises: April 1, 2025
