The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced a key update for Solar PV Module manufacturers by launching a new online feature for managing Critical Component List (CCL) updates. This advancement aims to streamline the process, enhancing efficiency and transparency in updating critical components for Solar PV Modules. This significant step by BIS ensures a more effective and transparent mechanism for managing Solar PV Module components.
Solar PV Module manufacturers can now leverage the BIS's new online feature to efficiently submit test reports when updates occur in the Bill of Materials (BOM) for registered modules. This feature facilitates seamless component updates without altering the model number, reducing administrative burdens and streamlining the update process.
Licensees are advised to verify the accuracy of model numbers on the BIS portal before submitting online update requests. Any discrepancies should be promptly reported to BIS to prevent issues during the update submission.
After a CCL update request is submitted, BIS will thoroughly review the documentation. If the documentation is accurate and product conformity is verified on the first submission, the request will be recorded, and the licensee will receive confirmation within five working days.
BIS has introduced a one-time relaxation for submitting test reports. Test reports dated after February 15, 2024, and older than 90 days can still be accepted if sent via email with necessary details, including R-No., CRS No., Test request no., Test report no., and report date. Note that requests must be received within seven days of this circular’s issuance to be considered.
The updates and relaxations detailed in this circular have been approved by the Competent Authority at BIS. These changes are designed to enhance the efficiency of managing Solar PV Module components and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
