BIS Draft Quality Control Order for the Vinyl Sulphone
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has released a draft Quality Control Order known as the Vinyl Sulphone (Quality Control) Order, 2024. Here are the essential details of the order:
Title and Effective Date: The order is officially named the Vinyl Sulphone (Quality Control) Order, 2024. It will take effect 180 days following its publication in the Official Gazette.
Scope and Applicability: This Order governs all Vinyl Sulphone goods and articles, with the exception of those designated for export.
Standards and Certification: Vinyl Sulphone goods and articles must meet the Indian Standard IS 18340:2023. They are required to display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in compliance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Certifying and Enforcing Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for Vinyl Sulphone goods and articles.
This draft Order aims to ensure that Vinyl Sulphone products sold within the domestic market adhere to the specified quality standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will oversee certification and enforcement to guarantee compliance.
