We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Automobile Wheel Rim Component Amendment Order-II (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has issued the Automobile Wheel Rim Component (Quality Control) Amendment Order-II for 2023.
This amendment, effective from December 22, 2023, or the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, introduces revisions to the regulations specified in the Automobile Wheel Rim Component (Quality Control) Order dated September 21, 2020.
The updated order applies to specific goods or articles listed in the table, except for the following exceptions:
Automobile wheel rims intended for export are exempted.
Up to five wheel rims per vehicle are exempt under Rule 126A of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which allows relaxation from testing if fewer than 250 vehicles of a given base model and its variants are sold in India within any consecutive six-month period in a year.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 5,000 units of 4-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year specifically for repairs or after-sales service purposes.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 10,000 units of 4-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year for Research and Development (R&D) purposes.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 50,000 units of 4-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year for the manufacturing of 4-wheeler vehicles in India.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 24,000 units of 2-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year specifically for repairs or after-sales service purposes.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 10,000 units of 2-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year for Research and Development (R&D) purposes.
Vehicle manufacturers can import up to 70,000 units of 2-wheeler automotive wheel rims per financial year for the manufacturing of 2-wheeler vehicles in India, provided that no more than 25,000 units of one type of automobile wheel rim are imported.
