We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Electrical Accessories (Plasticized Polyvinylchloride tapes With non- Thermosetting adhesive) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released the Electrical Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
Moreover, for small enterprises as defined in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the directive becomes effective nine months after its publication. For micro-enterprises, the implementation date is twelve months following publication.
Goods classified as Electrical Accessories must comply with Indian Standard 7809 (Part 3/Section 1): 1986, particularly addressing Plasticized Polyvinylchloride tapes with non-Thermosetting adhesive. These products are required to display the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Moreover, for small enterprises as defined in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the directive becomes effective nine months after its publication. For micro-enterprises, the implementation date is twelve months following publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards has been appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for Electrical Accessories.
Individuals breaching the provisions of this order will face penalties as specified under the relevant Act.

As per the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the order will be effective nine months after the publication date for small enterprises and twelve months after the publication date for micro-enterprises.
