The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued the "Rubber Gaskets for Pressure Cookers (Quality Control) Order, 2023,", which will come into force six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.

Rubber gaskets for pressure cookers must comply with Indian Standard 7466:1994 and prominently display the Standard Mark obtained via a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 as outlined in Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations for 2018.

This order does not apply to goods manufactured domestically for export purposes.

According to clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order will be effective twelve months from the publication date for micro-enterprises and nine months from the publication date for small enterprises.
