The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released the "Laboratory Glassware (Quality Control) Order, 2023."

This order becomes effective six months after being published in the Official Gazette. Products categorized under Laboratory Glassware must conform to Indian Standard 1381 (Part 1): 2003 (Narrow-necked boiling flasks) and display the Standard Mark with a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018.

The order specifies exemptions, particularly excluding goods or articles manufactured domestically with the intention of export.

Additionally, for micro-enterprises and small enterprises as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order becomes effective twelve months and nine months after its publication date, respectively.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for products categorized under Laboratory Glassware.

Implementation Dates: Effective from eighteen months from the date of publication of this notification.

Moreover, for micro-enterprises and small enterprises under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it becomes effective in twelve months and nine months from the publication date, respectively.
