Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Laboratory Glassware (Graduated measuring cylinders) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released the "Laboratory Glassware (Quality Control) Order, 2023."
This order becomes effective six months after being published in the Official Gazette. Goods categorized as Laboratory Glassware must adhere to Indian Standard 878:2008 (Laboratory glassware - Graduated measuring cylinders) and display the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, as detailed in Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Certain exemptions are specified within the order, which do not extend to domestically manufactured goods or articles intended for export.
Additionally, for micro-enterprises and small enterprises as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order becomes effective twelve months and nine months after its publication date, respectively.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for products categorized under Laboratory Glassware.
Any individual violating the provisions of this order may face penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
