OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released the "Laboratory Glassware (Quality Control) Order, 2023."

This directive becomes effective six months after being published in the Official Gazette. Products categorized under Laboratory Glassware must adhere to Indian Standard 1117:2018 (Single volume pipettes) and display the Standard Mark with a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as Scheme-1 in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards' (Conformity Assessment) Regulations of 2018.

The order specifies exemptions, excluding goods or articles produced domestically intended for export.

Moreover, for micro-enterprises and small enterprises defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order takes effect in twelve months and nine months from the publication date, respectively.

Any individual violating the provisions of this order may face penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
