BIS Second Amendment for Toluene
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Toluene Second Amendment (Quality Control) Order of 2020, scheduled to take effect starting December 22, 2024.
This order applies to products involving Toluene and aims to uphold quality standards. However, it excludes items intended for export.
Products categorized under Toluene must comply with Indian Standard IS 537:2011 and display the Standard Mark. This requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I as per Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau is designated as the certifying and regulatory authority for goods or articles related to Toluene.
Individuals breaching the provisions of this order will face penalties as specified under the relevant Act.
