We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for Solar Thermal Systems, Devices and Components (All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Water Heating System) (Quality Control) Order, 2024, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has released a Quality Control Order titled the "Quality Control Order for Solar Thermal Systems, Devices, and Components, 2024."

This order applies to All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collectors within the country, excluding those intended for export, and becomes effective after one hundred and eighty days from its publication in the Official Gazette.

According to this order, All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collectors must comply with Indian Standard IS 16544: 2016, which specifies All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Water Heating Systems. They should also bear the Standard Mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been assigned the role of certifying and enforcing authority for All Glass Evacuated Tubes Solar Collectors.

Additionally, the Bureau, in coordination with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, will undertake market surveillance to verify adherence to the Indian Standard for products displaying the Standard Mark.

Failure to comply with this order may result in penalties as specified in subsection (3) of section 29 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
