OVERVIEW

The Protective Textiles (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, issued by the Ministry of Textiles, will come into effect on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

This regulatory framework strives to guarantee the safety and quality of Protective Textiles, particularly Tactical 3 point slings, available in the market. It underscores the importance of adhering to established standards for the welfare of both consumers and industry stakeholders.

In accordance with the specified standards, the products or items, as outlined in IS 16725:2018 (Textiles - Tactical 3 point sling universal - Specification), must meet the corresponding Indian Standard and display the Standard Mark. Manufacturers must secure a license from the Bureau, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau is assigned as both the certifying and enforcing entity for the designated products or items, specifically Tactical 3 point slings.

Any individual discovered to be in breach of this order will be subject to penalties as per the stipulations outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).
