Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Amendment for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Braided Nylon Ropes for Mountaineering Purposes) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Directive named "Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order, 2023."
This directive will come into effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Products falling under Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh categories must comply with Indian Standard 6590:1972 (Braided Nylon Ropes for Mountaineering Purposes) and bear the Standard Mark. This mark can only be acquired under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards according to Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this directive excludes goods produced domestically for export purposes.
For micro enterprises, defined in Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the directive becomes effective twelve months after its publication. For small enterprises, it takes effect nine months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is authorized as the certifying and regulatory body for these products.
Any breach of this directive is liable to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
