Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Steel Wire Suspension Ropes for Lifts, Elevators and Hoists) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Directive named "Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order for 2023."
This directive will come into effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Products falling under the categories of Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 2365:2018 (Steel Wire Suspension Ropes for Lifts, Elevators and Hoists) and carry the Standard Mark. This mark can only be obtained under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's crucial to highlight that this directive does not extend to domestically manufactured goods intended for export.
For micro enterprises, defined under Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the directive becomes effective twelve months after publication. In the case of small enterprises, it takes effect nine months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is authorized as the certifying and regulatory body for these products.
Violation of this order is liable to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
