Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Stranded steel wire ropes for winding and man–riding haulages in mines) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Directive named "Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order for 2023."
This directive will come into effect six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Products classified under Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh categories must comply with Indian Standard 1856:2005 (Steel Wire Rope for haulage) and bear the Standard Mark. This mark is obtainable only through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's crucial to highlight that this directive does not extend to domestically manufactured goods intended for export.
For micro enterprises, defined under Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the directive becomes effective twelve months after publication. In the case of small enterprises, it takes effect nine months after publication.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is authorized as the certifying and regulatory body for these products.
Violation of this order is liable to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
