Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Specification for non-metal helmets for firemen and civil defence personnel) (Quality Control) Order, 2023, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Helmet for Police Force, Civil Defence and Personal Protection (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will be effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.
Helmets intended for Police Force, Civil Defence, and Personal Protection must comply with Indian Standard 2745:1983 (Specifications for non-metal helmets for firemen and civil defence personnel) and exhibit the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
This Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically with the intention of export.
As per the definitions under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, micro and small enterprises are required to comply with the Order within twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
The Bureau of Indian Standards has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for Helmets intended for Police Force, Civil Defence, and Personal Protection under this Order.
Non-compliance with this Order may lead to penalties as per the provisions outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
