Dear Reader,
We have crucial announcement concerning the Indian Standard for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh(Hot Dip Galvanized Stay Strand) (Quality Control) Order, 2024, impacting all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Directive named "Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order, 2024."
Products categorized as Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh must comply with Indian Standard 2141:2000 (Hot Dip Galvanized Stay Strand) and bear the Standard Mark. This mark can only be acquired through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this directive excludes goods produced domestically for export purposes.
Micro and small enterprises, as outlined in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), are required to comply with the relevant Indian Standards from the designated date.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is authorized as the certifying and regulatory body for these products.
Any breach of this directive is liable to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
