The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Door Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will be effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Products classified as Door Fittings must meet Indian Standard 1019:1974 (Rim Latches) and carry the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically with the intention of export.

As per clause (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, micro and small enterprises are required to comply with the Order within twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
