The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled "Door Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2023," which will be effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

Products categorized as Door Fittings must conform to Indian Standard 4992:1975 (Door handles for mortice lock (vertical type)) and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This Order excludes goods or articles produced domestically with the intention of export.

As per clause (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, micro and small enterprises are required to comply with the Order within twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
