Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Coconut Fatty Acids Amendment Order, 2024.

BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Coconut Fatty Acids

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has introduced the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, modifying the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022.

This amendment is scheduled to take effect on October 24, 2024.

This order is applicable to products containing Coconut Fatty Acids, with the exception of those designated for export.

To ensure adherence, products containing Coconut Fatty Acids must conform to the relevant Indian Standard IS 12069:1987 and prominently display the Standard Mark. This necessitates securing a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for products governed by this order, particularly Coconut Fatty Acids.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will face penalties in accordance with the relevant legislation.
