Important update: Indian Standard applicable to all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers under the Quality Control Second Amendment Order 2024 for the Ethylene Dichloride (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025.

BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Ethylene Dichloride

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has announced the Ethylene Dichloride (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025, which will take effect on September 12th, 2025.

Upon publication in the Official Gazette, this order requires that products or items containing Ethylene Dichloride comply with Indian Standard IS 869:2020. They must display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Importantly, this directive excludes products intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the certifying and regulatory authority for products and items containing Ethylene Dichloride.
