Important update: Indian Standard applicable to all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers under the Quality Control Amendment Order 2024 for the Polycarbonate.

BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Polycarbonate

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has released an Amendment Order for the Polycarbonate (Quality Control) Order, 2025. It shall come into force on 12th September 2025

Upon its publication in the Official Gazette, this order requires that goods or articles of Polycarbonate comply with Indian Standard 14434:1998. These products must display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It's important to note that this directive does not apply to goods or articles intended for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is appointed as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for goods or articles made of Polycarbonate.
