Important update: Indian Standard applicable to all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers under the Quality Control Amendment Order 2024 for the Polyurethanes (Quality Control) Order, 2021.
BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for the Polyurethanes
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Polyurethanes (Quality Control) Order, 2021 Amendment for the year 2024. It shall come into force on the 19th day of March 2025.
Upon its publication in the Official Gazette, this order requires that Polyurethanes goods or articles adhere to Indian Standard IS 17397 (Part 1): 2020 or ISO 16365-1: 2014. These products must display the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Notably, this directive excludes goods or articles designated for export purposes.
The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the designated authority responsible for certifying and enforcing standards for Polyurethanes goods or articles.
