Once notified in the Official Gazette, the order will be enforced from that date. It covers chains and sprockets that must adhere to the technical requirements set out in Indian Standard IS 13926:2005 — Cranked-link drag chains of welded construction with attachments and sprockets. All such products are required to carry the BIS Standard Mark, authorised through a valid licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in line with Scheme–I of Schedule–II under the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018..

 

Implementation timeline:

• General manufacturers (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): Must comply within 6 months from the date of publication.

• Small Enterprises: Required to comply within 9 months.

• Micro Enterprises: Compliance must be ensured within 12 months.

Items made solely for export are excluded. BIS will handle certification and enforcement, and breaches will attract penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
