Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Medical Textiles (Dental bib/Napkins) (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Textiles has announced an extension for the Quality Control Order, 2023, which will take effect on April 1, 2024.

This order specifically pertains to goods such as dental bibs and napkins, excluding items meant for export.

To ensure compliance, dental bibs and napkins must meet the Indian Standard IS 17354:2020 and display the Standard Mark. This necessitates obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme – I of Schedule – II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards serves as the official certifying and enforcing authority for dental bibs and napkins as outlined in this Order. Violating the provisions of this Order will result in penalties as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).

NOTE: Any individual who breaches the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties specified in the BIS Act, 2016.
