In today's competitive landscape, maintaining market presence without a certified, high-quality product can be challenging. Obtaining a BIS license may also be essential for selling products in the Indian market. To achieve BIS certification and ensure product quality, manufacturers must adhere to the specified Indian standards.
Lets delve deeper into IS 6721:1972 for PVC sandals.
IS 6721:1972 addresses PVC sandals, detailing the requirements, sampling techniques, and testing procedures for sandals crafted using the injection molding process.
This standard is applicable to two types of sandals:
Type 1: One part sandals
Type 2: Two-part sandals
The PVC sandals must be crafted from a primary material that satisfies the physical criteria outlined in the standard. The design of the sandals should be mutually agreed upon by the buyer and the seller. The dimensions of the last must comply with IS 1638:1960.
Type 1 PVC sandals should be produced as a single piece through injection molding, while Type 2 sandals must be manufactured in two separate parts via injection molding, with subsequent assembly. It's essential that the PVC sandals are crafted to avoid issues like shrinkage, burning, warping, and cold flow marks.
The subsequent test must be conducted for PVC sandals.
Relative density test
Hardness test
Tensile strength test
Tear strength test
Volatility test
Test for lead
Elongation test
A well-maintained laboratory is necessary for conducting the various tests outlined in the standard, following the specified methods.
Each sandal's sole should bear the size and the manufacturer's name or trademark, if available. Additionally, the sandal may feature the ISI certification mark, and packaging and labeling must adhere to the relevant standards. To utilize the standard mark (ISI Mark), the manufacturer must acquire a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. This license is granted following a comprehensive evaluation of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production processes.
Acquiring a BIS license requires a comprehensive review of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control abilities, testing resources, and production procedures. This thorough assessment guarantees that products not only adhere to regulations but also prioritize consumer safety and reliability.
