This notification, released on August 31, 2023, holds significant implications for manufacturers, importers, and consumers of these products.
The Central Government's Directive
The Central Government, acknowledging the significance of upholding superior standards in the manufacturing and distribution of high-purity primary aluminum ingots, has taken a crucial measure. It has stipulated that these products must adhere to the relevant Indian Standard outlined in IS 11890:1987.
Under this updated regulation, high purity primary aluminum ingots meeting the specified Indian Standard will be eligible to display the Standard Mark. However, securing this authorization will necessitate manufacturers to acquire a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
