Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Structural plywood - Specification) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently released a Quality Control Order titled "Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This directive will come into effect starting February 28, 2025.

However, for small enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it will be enforced from May 28, 2025, and for micro enterprises, it will apply from August 28, 2025.

According to the directive, Structural plywood - Specification must comply with Indian Standard IS 10701: 2012 and display the Standard Mark under a Bureau of Indian Standards license, following Scheme-1 from Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. It's essential to note that this directive excludes goods or articles produced domestically solely for export.

Under this directive, all products related to Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters must adhere to Indian Standard 10701: 2012 (Structural plywood - Specification) and display the Standard Mark, necessitating a Bureau of Indian Standards license under Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been assigned as the certifying and regulatory authority for Structural plywood - Specification as outlined in this directive.

Any individual violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
