Key update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Veneered decorative plywood) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently released a Quality Control Order named "Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Quality Control) Order, 2024."

This order will come into effect starting February 28, 2025.

However, for small enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it will be enforced starting from May 28, 2025, and for micro enterprises, it will apply from August 28, 2025.

According to the order, Veneered decorative plywood must comply with Indian Standard IS 1328:1996 and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Please note that this order excludes goods or articles produced domestically for export purposes.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has been appointed as the certifying and regulatory authority for Veneered decorative plywood as outlined in this order.

Individuals found violating the provisions of this order will be subject to penalties in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
