OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a Quality Control Order titled the "Telescopic Ball Bearing Drawer Slide (Quality Control) Order, 2024."
It will come into effect six months following its publication in the Official Gazette.
Under this mandate, Telescopic Ball Bearing drawer slides must conform to Indian Standard IS 17954:2023 and showcase the Standard Mark granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Exceptions to this directive include domestically manufactured goods or articles for export, as well as micro and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006). These exceptions apply for eighteen and fifteen months, respectively, from the date of publication of this notification.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the certifying and regulatory body for Telescopic Ball Bearing drawer slides.
Failure to comply with this order may result in penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
