OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Mines has announced the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys Amendment Order, 2024" under the Quality Control Order of 2023. This amendment will come into effect on December 1, 2024.

This directive aims to maintain the quality standards of primary aluminium ingots for remelting purposes, with exemptions for items intended for export.

For compliance, these products must adhere to Indian Standard 2590:1987 and display the Standard Mark. This mark is authorized for use only under a license obtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-1 outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
