Important notice on the Indian Standard for all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and sellers under the Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators & Fittings (QCO) 2025.

BIS QCO for Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators and Fittings (Fire Doors and Doorsets - Specification)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has put forward a draft notification called the Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators and Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This order covers products identified as steel doors, windows, ventilators, and fittings, which must comply with the requirements specified in Indian Standard IS 17296:2020, Stainless Steel Door Stoppers – Specification.

All such items are required to carry the Standard Mark and be licensed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II under the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Compliance schedule:

General manufacturers (excluding micro and small enterprises): within 6 months of publication.
Small enterprises: within 9 months from publication.
Micro enterprises: within 12 months from publication.

This regulation does not extend to products manufactured within India solely for export purposes. The BIS will serve as the authority for certification and enforcement of this order. Any breach of its provisions will attract penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
