The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has published a draft notification titled the Automotive Valves, Valve Accessories & Caps (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This order will come into effect on the date it is officially published in the Gazette. It applies to products classified as automotive valves, valve accessories, and caps, which must adhere to the specifications stated in Indian Standard IS 9453:2014, Valve Caps for Tyre Tube Valves for Automotive Vehicles.

All such products must display the Standard Mark and obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), as outlined in Scheme–I of Schedule–II under the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• General manufacturers (excluding micro and small enterprises): within 6 months of publication.

• Small enterprises: within 9 months from publication.

• Micro enterprises: within 12 months from publication.

This regulation does not cover goods produced in India solely for export. The BIS will act as the certifying and enforcement authority for products under this order. Any breach of its provisions will attract penalties in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
