Important announcement on the Indian Standard relevant to current licence holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and sellers of Aluminium Alloy Miscellaneous Products under the Quality Control Order, 2025.

BIS QCO for Aluminium Alloy Miscellaneous Products (Aluminium alloy redraw rods for electrical purposes)

OVERVIEW

This order covers goods classified as aluminium alloy miscellaneous products, which must meet the specifications given in Indian Standard IS 9997:2023, Aluminium Alloy Redraw Rods for Electrical Purposes.

Each of these products must bear the BIS Standard Mark, issued under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards in line with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Compliance timelines:

General manufacturers (excluding micro and small enterprises): 6 months from publication.
Small enterprises: 9 months from publication.
Micro enterprises: 12 months from publication.

Products made solely for export are exempt. The BIS will be responsible for certification and enforcement for the specified products, and violations will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
