Key notice on Indian Standard compliance for current licensees, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and sellers under the Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels, and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025.

BIS QCO for Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net panels and Rolls (Wire Ropes and Strands for General Structural Applications Including Cable Supported Bridges)

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has notified a draft order titled the “Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025.” This regulation will come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. The order covers products classified as Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels and Rolls, which must conform to the specifications of Indian Standard 9282: 2024, – Wire Ropes and Strands for General Structural Applications Including Cable Supported Bridges.
All such products must carry the Standard Mark under a valid license granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in line with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• General Manufacturers (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): Compliance within 6 months of publication.

• Small Enterprises: Compliance within 9 months.

• Micro Enterprises: Compliance within 12 months.

Export Exemption: The order will not apply to goods manufactured exclusively for export.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will serve as the certifying and enforcement authority for all covered items. Any violation of this Quality Control Order will attract penalties under the BIS Act, 2016.
