Crucial update on the Indian Standard applicable to all current licence holders, new aspirants, manufacturers, importers, and merchandisers under the Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators & Fittings( Quality Control) Order, 2025.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced a draft notification known as the Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators and Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This order covers products identified as steel doors, windows, ventilators, and fittings, which must meet the specifications set out in Indian Standard IS 17706:2022, Pull Handles – Specification.

Compliance deadlines:

General manufacturers (excluding micro and small enterprises): within 6 months of publication.
Small enterprises: within 9 months from publication.
Micro enterprises: within 12 months from publication.

The order does not apply to products manufactured domestically solely for export. The BIS will serve as the certifying and enforcement body for goods covered under this regulation. Any violation of its provisions will be subject to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
