The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a draft order titled “Fire-resistant Cabinets (Quality Control) Order, 2025.” This order will take effect from the date it is published in the Official Gazette.
The order covers products identified as Fire-resistant Cabinets, which must meet the requirements set out in the Indian Standard IS 14203:2023 – Fire Resisting Record Protection Cabinets — Specification.

All such products are required to display the Standard Mark, issued under license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• General manufacturers( banning micro and small enterprises) within 6 months of publication.

• Small enterprises within 9 months of publication.

• Micro enterprises within 12 months of publication The order does n't apply to goods manufactured simply for import.

Export Clause: The order does not apply to products manufactured solely for export.
Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is designated as the certification and enforcement body for all items falling under this order.
Penalties: Any breach of this Quality Control Order will invite action under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
