The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a draft notification titled “Fire-resistant Cabinets (Quality Control) Order, 2025.” The order shall take effect from the date it is published in the Official Gazette.
This order applies to products categorized as Fire-resistant Cabinets, which must comply with the requirements of Indian Standard IS 14561:2014 – Fire Resisting (Insulating) Filing Cabinets — Specification.

All such products must carry the Standard Mark, granted under license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in line with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• General manufacturers( banning micro and small enterprises) within 6 months of publication.

• Small enterprises within 9 months of publication.

• Micro enterprises within 12 months of publication The order does n't apply to goods manufactured simply for import.

Export Clause: The order does not apply to products manufactured solely for export.
Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is designated as the certification and enforcement body for all items falling under this order.
Penalties: Any breach of this Quality Control Order will invite action under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
