The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a draft announcement named the “ marketable Pressure Cooker( Quality Control) Order, 2025. ” This order will come effective from the date it's published in the Official Gazette. It applies to all products distributed as marketable Pressure Cookers, which must cleave to the conditions laid down in Indian Standard IS 178702022 — Commercial Pressure Cooker Specification. Every similar product must display the Standard Mark, granted under license by the Bureau of Indian norms( BIS), in agreement with Scheme – I of Schedule – II of the BIS( Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

 

Implementation timeline:

• General manufacturers (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): Must comply within 6 months from the date of publication.

• Small Enterprises: Required to comply within 9 months.

• Micro Enterprises: Compliance must be ensured within 12 months.

This order wo n't apply to products manufactured domestically for the sole purpose of import. The BIS will serve as the instrument and enforcement authority for all products under this order. Any violation of its vittles will invite penalties under the Bureau of Indian norms Act, 2016.
