Key notification on Indian Standard compliance for current licensees, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and sellers under the Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels, and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a draft notification called the “Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels, and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025.” This Order takes effect from the day it is published in the Official Gazette. It covers products such as Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels, and Rolls, which must comply with the specifications in IS/ISO 17746:2016 – “Steel Wire Rope Net Panels and Rolls.”
All these products are required to display the BIS Standard Mark under a valid license, in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Implementation Timeline:

General Manufacturers (excluding Micro and Small Enterprises): Compliance within 6 months of publication.
Small Enterprises: Compliance within 9 months.
Micro Enterprises: Compliance within 12 months.

Note: Products made exclusively for export are exempt from this Order.

The BIS will be responsible for certification and enforcement. Anyone not following the provisions of this Quality Control Order will face penalties under the BIS Act, 2016.
