This is to inform you about the Indian Standard requirements for all current licence holders, new applicants, producers, importers, and vendors of steel doors, windows, ventilators, and fittings covered under the Quality Control Order, 2025.

OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced the Steel Doors, Windows, Ventilators and Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2025. This regulation covers products in these categories, which must comply with the relevant Indian Standards listed in the official table. Each covered item must carry the BIS Standard Mark, issued under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Implementation schedule:

General manufacturers (excluding micro and small enterprises): 6 months from publication.
Small enterprises: 9 months from publication.
Micro enterprises: 12 months from publication.

The order does not apply to goods manufactured solely for export. BIS will serve as the certifying and enforcement authority, and non-compliance will attract penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
